Conceptual Room / 2012
Sound installation, 12 channel audio, darkened environment
In a completely dark environment, 12 audio monitors aim to reproduce the architecture of the space through sound. Using relatively high pitch vocals, the word “wall” slowly rotates around the listeners and therefore constructs a barrier that is not visible but can be sensed when navigating around the room. One audio monitor is placed on the door of the entrance repeating the word “door” in the same interval, giving way for the listeners to exit the room with no visual aid. The “white cube” exhibition environment is eliminated by darkness and replaced by a different spacial reception, where the viewer and the artwork are in direct contact through a very unique sensorial experience. As a safety measurement, listeners are provided with a tiny led light that can be used when necessary.
